Plein Air Painters of Chicago

Welcome!

Anyone with a desire to paint outside may join us each Saturday morning.

To get started, show up at the designated meeting point. If you see someone wearing a black hat with the PAPC logo on it, introduce yourself. There is no formal check in. Choose a location in the vicinity of our meeting point to paint, then go for it. Be mindful to clean up after yourself and dispose of your chemicals and paints responsibly (take them home). Meet back at the designated meeting point at Noon-ish for critique.

Meet Errol, Location Master

Errol Jacobson is the Location Master for the weekly PAPC paintouts. He selects sites and posts location information every week on our website.

Errol has been painting with the PAPC since 2005 and continues to crank out awesome work! Right on Errol!

Where: In and around the neighborhood surrounding the Palette and Chisel, 1012 N. Dearborn, Chicago

Time: 8:30 a.m., group viewing @ 12:00 in front of the Palette and Chisel

Paint out - Saturday 5/16 - Gompers Park

When: Saturday 5/16

Where: Gompers Park, 4222 W. Foster Ave., Chicago (meet at the entrance on Pulaski just south of Foster.

Time: 8:30 a.m., group view @ 12.00 in parking lot.

Wonderful large city park with large expanse of land consisting of ponds, streams, trees and open areas.

Paint out - Saturday 5/23 - Montrose Harbor

Time: 8:30 am, group view @ 12:00 at the bait shop

Where: Montrose Harbor, Montrose Ave., 4400 North at the Lake...meet at the bait shop which is the green building on the corner.

Great time to be by the lake...good weather, boats are in the water, lake and woods nearby. Lots of good compositions to choose from.

Paint out - Saturday 5/30 - Boat House Humboldt Park

Where: Boat House Humboldt Park, 1301 N. Humboldt Blvd, Chicago

Time: 8:30, Critique and group view @ 12:00 at the boat house.

Thanks to Martha for suggesting Humboldt Park Boathouse. She says Yellow flag (iris type plant) is blooming along the waters edge right now. Should make for some nice paintings.
